What are AHA’s?

I’ve seen this abbreviation a number of times and didn’t really know what it was. So I decided to investigate. AHA’s stand for alpha hydroxy acids which are a group of chemical compounds used in the beauty industry to help with skin rejuvenation. If you have chemical peels done at a beauty parlor or at a health spa then probably the cosmetic preparation that is used contains AHA’s. Glycolic acid and citric acid are common ingredients although they are usually used in lower concentrations in order to be more gentle on the skin. The result is you feel the skin is smooth, and the effects of wrinkles and aging skin can be great minimized. So when you buy cosmetic products, look out on the label to see if it contains AHA’s.
