Taking Antidepressants

November 30th, 2008 by admin

There has often been a lot of public concern regarding the use of antidepressant medication.  Many people who have never suffered with depression symptoms can’t  understand the importance and necessity of this medication.  There is, still to this day, a stigma attached to the use of medication for mental illness, just as there remains a stigma regarding mental illness itself.  Many people claim that they would never take an antidepressant, but I would say that if they were truly depressed then they would be willing to accept anything that might help with their condition.  In recent years there has been a substantial increase in the number of people taking antidepressants.  This is thought to be related to more pressure being placed on people through work and family – growing numbers are women suffering from depression.
