Kids Versus Furniture?

August 28th, 2008 by admin

For as long as I could remember I’d planned to have a luxurious home, filled with beautiful, delicate things.

What I didn’t plan was meeting my soul mate at age nineteen and being a mother at twenty.

When we were furnishing our home, we looked at white shag carpeting and grass cloth wall coverings - but we bought multi-colored, stain resistant Berber and waterproof paint.

I lingered over the deep leather sofas and antique armchair, but we took home a bicast leather sofa and sturdy recliner.

Do I miss the plans I made or regret exchanging my elegant plans for practical ones?

Not on your life. One look at my husband relaxing in a recliner, reading to our son and I know exactly what’s important.

We always walk down to the mailboxes together.

August 27th, 2008 by admin

I live in an apartment building. I have made a lot of close friends in the building. Every morning, my friends and I follow the same routine. We get together for coffee and cookies, doughnuts, or some other sort of pastries. We take turns hosting the morning event and supplying the coffee and sweets. After we drink our coffee, eat our pastries, and talk about our plans for the day, we always walk down to the mailboxes together. We get our mail inside the main door of the building. After we gather our bills, letters, and advertisements, we go our separate ways.

Solar Decor for Your Yard and Garden

August 26th, 2008 by admin

I remember the first time I ever saw outdoor solar lighting. It was many years ago at a friends house. She had her husband had placed solar yard lights throughout their garden and yard. I actually didn’t notice them until it was dark when I was leaving their home, that’s when I noticed their solar decor. They had solar pathway lighting and decorative solar lighting. The next day I was at the store buying solar lighting for my garden. I since have several different pieces of solar decor in my yard. I have a solar fountain in the backyard and I have a small fish pond in my front yard and the pump and small fountain run on solar power.

Training Your Dog

August 22nd, 2008 by admin

Training your dog is important so that they understand how you, the owner, want them to behave.  The owner is generally the best person to take on the responsibility of dog training, as they need to learn to communicate with their pet.  On the other side, the owner must learn how to read and interpret signals from the pet, the dog may be confused or unsure of what behavior is required.

One of the most important things to remember is to use consistent signals or words when training your dog, if you vary the commands you may confuse your pet.  When the dog follows your commands and gets everything right, you should consider positive reinforcement, such as a special treat.  If you catch your dog doing something he is not supposed to, you must correct him immediately so he will relate the punishment to what he has done.  For example, if he goes to the bathroom inside your home and you find it later it will do little good to punish the dog because he may not understand what he has done wrong.  Punishment should be consistent with the type of pet you have, for many dogs the word no in a sharp tone will be punishment enough to discourage future bad behavior.

Good luck training your pet!

Digital Transition and Converter Boxes

August 20th, 2008 by admin

February 17th, 2009 is the date of the digital transition.  Many people have no even begun to think about the digital transition when it is actually right around the corner.  Most people do not understand the digital transition or if they need to do anything to keep their TV working.  Still others do understand that they need to get a converter box but they have no idea where to start in searching for one.  The government has certified so many darn converter boxes that people do not know which one to choose.  TV converter boxes ratings systems are a great way to determine which converter boxes you should choose.

The Perfect Gift

August 18th, 2008 by admin

I really need to find the perfect gift for my sister. She seems to have almost everything already. And, she’s extremely picky. I’m not sure what else to get her. But, her birthday is coming up in about one month. I have already asked most of my friends for suggestions. The only suggestion with potential came from a coworker. She suggested that I look online for pieces manufactured by Blomus. According to my coworker, its wide selection of pieces makes it easy to find the perfect gift for the person that’s difficult to buy for. This sounds like it would be right up my alley. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

I haven’t got time for the… fun

August 18th, 2008 by admin

There is a plethora of products on the market for the betterment of your life and home. You can get a product that massages your feet, and something that will iron your cloths and take out the smell while you are wearing them. There are reverse osmosis systems to clean your water and make it soft and beds made out of NASA materials to give you the perfect nights sleep. It makes me wonder, when did we become so stuck on having so many things to make us comfortable and who in Gods name has the time to use all of these gizmo’s and gadgets? I know I don’t.
