Winners of Gaming Awards Revealed

This week marked the second annual Game Developers Choice Online Awards.  The Gamer Developers Choice Online Awards was created in order to properly recognize those who produce online video games.  If for any reason you missed them, here is a mini recap.

The major winners at this year’s event were Trion Worlds’ MMORPG Rift and Mojang’s Minecraft.  Each game won two awards and captured some of the most sought after categories.  Rift was victorious in earning Best New Online Game and Best Online Technology, while Minecraft was awarded Best Live Game and Best Community Relations.

There was also a new induction into the Choice Online Awards Hall of Fame.  Entering the Hall of Fame was the MMORPG EverQuest.  The game, produced by Sony, is it its twelfth year and has been very significant in shaping the gaming industry.  Thanks to EverQuest we have the concept of raiding and guilds.

Perhaps next year, World of Warcraft will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.  The game has vast number of subscribers who all went online to buy WOW accounts and enjoy playing.
